Real Betis preview: Focus on the UECL

Manuel Pellegrini’s Real Betis will have their full focus now on the final of the UEFA Europa Conference League as the Andalusians chase their first ever European trophy when they take on Premier League side Chelsea in Wroclaw in Poland next midweek.

The hosts have been brilliant in this calendar year as they chased a top five finish and UEFA Champions League qualification but they have now collected just two points from their last three matches, as they now finish behind Villarreal in the race for Europe’s elite competition.

Valencia preview: Brilliant calendar year

On Christmas Eve, Valencia appointed West Bromwich Albion boss Carlos Corberan when they appeared destined for a shock relegation to the second-tier but they instead moved themselves into the race for a top eight finish and European qualification – until recently.

Los Che come into this one on the back of back-to-back defeats with a 1-0 loss in the Basque Country against Deportivo Alaves being followed up by a 1-0 loss to Athletic Club at Mestalla on the penultimate match day of the 2024/25 La Liga campaign last weekend/

Real Betis team news: Probable rotation

Valencia team news: Nothing fresh

There are no fresh injury concerns or suspension issues for Valencia to deal with ahead of the visit to Seville this weekend. They have a couple of defensive absentees that are longer-term issues such as Thierry Correia and Dimitri Foulquier.

Predicted XI (4-4-2): Mamardashvili; Cristhian Mosquera, Carlos Tarrega, Diakhaby, Jose Luis Gaya; Luis Rioja, Javi Guerra, Barrenechea, Diego Lopez; Sadiq, Almeida

Unavailable: Correia (Injured), Foulquier (Injured)

Real Betis vs Valencia prediction

Valencia will be a little frustrated to have propelled themselves from a relegation battle to the European race before collapsing again in the last couple of games but their performance level has remained high and they will want to finish an excellent second-half of the campaign with a bit of a flourish. They face a Betis side that are expected to have very little focus on this game as they prepare for Chelsea in a few days and siding with the Valencians may well be a good bet at the Benito Villamarin.

Real Betis vs Valencia tip: Double chance – Valencia to win or draw
