Pakistan vs Sri Lanka prediction
Pakistan need England to do them a favour on Friday and beat New Zealand in Colombo. If they do, then Salman Agha’s side still have a chance of progressing through to the semi-finals as Super 8 Group 2 runners-up. But they would not only need to win this match against Sri Lanka, they’d need to win well enough to force a big enough swing of net-run-rate that sees them overtake the Black Caps
Sri Lanka have been extremely poor across the Super 8s and come into this one on the back of three successive losses in this competition. It’s a real shame for them after having made such a good start to the tournament, beating the likes of Australia in the group stage. But the batting has gone to sleep and in tough conditions, it’s ended up costing them dearly. Expect Pakistan to outscore a Sri Lankan line-up lacking confidence, regardless of whether they are batting or bowling first and ultimately going on and winning this match. Whether it’ll be enough to see them advance however, remains to be seen.
