NATE LANDWEHR VS JAMALL EMMERS LOWDOWN

Nate Landwehr’s (17-5) performance bonus winning run finally came to a halt at UFC 289. He cinched up an anaconda choke on Ludovit Klein (2021), outpointed David Onama (2022) in a war and then reeled off another brilliant submission over Austin Lingo (2023). However, Dan Ige (2023) stopped the show with a classy unanimous decision.

He was preparing to take on Pat Sabatini who had to pull out. Jamall Emmers (20-7) steps up to replace him after getting three fights in last year with mixed results. He earnt a unanimous decision over Khusein Askhbov but then just fell short in a split decision to Jack Jenkins. He then had another tough match-up in Dennis Buzukja but reeled off a vintage first-round knockout.

NATE LANDWEHR VS JAMALL EMMERS PREDICTION

We expect a banger here even though they will approach this very differently. Landwehr is extremely aggressive and will walk into to fire to unload his full arsenal of weapons. Emmers on the other hand is more cerebral. He is also well-rounded and with strong wrestling and dangerous striking.

We expect Landwehr to attempt to walk Emmers down with a high volume of strikes until he is close enough to land a takedown. However, this will play into Emmers hands who will patiently counter when Landwehr enters the pocket.

He also has exceptional takedown defence, and it is hard to see him getting controlled in the grappling exchanges. We feel he will be able to keep the fight on the feet where he can unleash his boxing. His speed and accuracy should be able to derail the train with Landwehr’s durability dragging this to the bell.

Prediction: Emmers via Decision
