MELSIK BAGHDASARYAN VS BRUNO SOUZA LOWDOWN
Melsik Baghdasaryan (6-1) is looking to make it 2-0 in the UFC after defeating Dennis Buzukja in the DWCS to earn a chance to compete in the UFC. Baghdasaryan hasn’t tasted defeat since his professional debut back in 2014. 4 out of Baghdasaryan’s 6 professional wins have come inside the first round via knockout. A real finisher, Baghdasaryan will be hoping to climb up the featherweight roster with a big win this weekend.
Bruno Souza (10-1) will be making his UFC debut this weekend. Originally, Baghdasaryan was scheduled to fight T.J. Laramie. Unfortunately, Laramie was forced to pull out of the bout due to an injury picked up in training. As for Souza, the Brazilian hasn’t lost a professional bout since his debut back in 2016. After impressing in the regional scene, Souza would go on to compete under the LFA banner. Eventually, Souza would go on to win the LFA featherweight title before earning a fight with the UFC.
MELSIK BAGHDASARYAN VS BRUNO SOUZA PREDICTION
With four of his five knockout victories have come in less than one minute, it’s fair to say that Melsik Baghdasaryan will heavily rely on his striking in this upcoming clash with Bruno Souza. Baghdasaryan would’ve had some issues facing T.J. Laramie, who is a well-equipped grappler.
However, luckily for Baghdasaryan, the fight with Souza is likely to mainly take place on the feet. Despite Souza being well-drilled in karate, he’s far from impossible to hit. This will only be a plus for a fighter like Baghdasaryan, who’s huge edge in firepower could prove to be the difference maker in this fight.
With Souza going the distance six times in his professional career, Souza will be hoping to survive the early exchanges. From then on in, Baghdasaryan’s cardio could fail him again, especially if Souza is able to get through the first round.
