Monaco preview: Filipe Luis’ Monaco

Former Flamengo boss Filipe Luis has been put in charge of a Monaco side seeking to break back into the top three and earn UEFA Champions League qualification – and they begin the return to Ligue 1 action sitting at the top-of-the-table.

Monaco have won six of their opening seven matches across all competitions and remain unbeaten domestically. They have done so with control and efficiency, scoring just eight goals in their five league games.

Toulouse preview: Tough start

Following the departure of Carlos Martinez Novell to Bayer Leverkusen over the summer, Toulouse appointed Jens Berthel Askou, who led Motherwell to the UEFA Europa Conference League from the Scottish Premiership last season.

It was a tough start for their new manager with just two points collected in their opening four matches but their most recent outing saw them entertainingly defeat Le Havre by three goals to two at Stadium de Toulouse the other week.

Monaco team news: Brunner suspended

Star man from the start of this season, young German striker Paris Brunner is missing through suspension with Aleksandr Golovin sustaining an injury over the international break, too.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Hradecky; Sane, Zakaria, Dier; Vanderson, Camara, Diop, Nazinho; Abline, Ansu Fati; Balogun

Unavailable: Brunner (Suspended)

Questionable: Coulibaly (Fitness), Stanis Idumbo (Fitness), Golovin (Injured)

Toulouse team news: Nicolaisen still a doubt

Versatile defender Rasmus Nicolaisen is working his way back to full fitness from a calf injury but there are no other issues for Toulouse to deal with this weekend.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Restes; Messali, Koumbassa, McKenzie, Tape; Sigur, Cristian Casseres Jr; Tengstedt, Jorgensen, Azizi; Russell-Rowe

Unavailable:

Questionable: Nicolaisen (Fitness)

Monaco vs Toulouse prediction

Toulouse’s performances have steadily improved as the season has gone on and their best came in that win against Le Havre with the scoreline flattering their opponents. They do, though, now run up against a well-coached and effective Monaco side that are looking to try and sustain a title challenge and so they do remain the firm favourites for this one in the principality.

Monaco vs Toulouse tip: Monaco to win
