Paris Saint-Germain preview: Stuttering start

Paris Saint-Germain began their campaign by winning the UEFA Super Cup and they have also won in the UEFA Champions League against Slovan Bratislava but domestic performances have been average, beginning with defeat in the Trophee des Champions.

They started the season by coming from 2-0 down to draw with both Stade Rennais and Lille before losing to Monaco. They then managed fairly unconvincing and narrow victories away from home against Stade Brest and Olympique de Marseille.

Le Mans preview: Steady Le Mans

Following their promotion back to the top-flight last season, Le Mans have been steady and performed admirably and competitively with three draws and a hard-fought defeat in their opening four matches.

After those opening four games, Le Mans earned their first win of the campaign with a 2-1 defeat of Lorient t Stade Marie-Marvingt, courtesy of goals in either half scored by Adil Bourabaa and Habib Diallo.

Paris Saint-Germain team news: Fresh doubts

PSG are dealing with a couple of fresh injury doubts for this weekend such as the versatile Warren Zaire-Emery and Spain international forward Ferran Torres.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Safonov; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Willian Pacho, Mendes; Vitinha, Neves, Fabian Ruiz; Doue, Dembele, Akliouche

Unavailable: Mayulu (Injured)

Questionable: Zaire-Emery (Injured), Ferran Torres (Injured)

Le Mans team news: Sidibe suspended

Former Everton and Monaco defender Djibril Sidibe is missing through suspension for the visitors with Erwan Colas and Lucas Buades both doubtful, too.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Kocik; Voyer, Boisse, Yohou; Bamba, Vercruysse, Bretelle, Bourabaa, Larouci; Mafouta, Diallo

Unavailable: Sidibe (Suspended)

Questionable: Buades (Fitness), Colas (Injured)

Paris Saint-Germain vs Le Mans prediction

Only Olympique Lyonnais and Strasbourg have scored more goals than Le Mans upon their return to the top-flight and they will fancy themselves to take the game to their potentially again complacent hosts. PSG have to be seen as firm favourites, as is natural, but again it may not be straightforward as they gear themselves towards once again peaking in the second half of the season.
