JARED GOODEN VS KEVIN JOUSSET LOWDOWN
Jared Gooden (23-9) pulled out a huge performance under pressure back at UFC on ESPN 52 in December. He was gifted another opportunity in the big time after getting cut with a 1-3 record in his first stint. He was welcomed back by Carlston Harris last year and lost a unanimous decision. He then met Wellington Turman and submitted the jiu-jitsu ace with a ‘Performance of the Night’ display.
Kevin Jousset (10-2) has been enjoying a steadier run riding a five-fight win streak. He fought four times last year and made his UFC debut against Kiefer Crosbie. He made light work of him cinching up a rear-naked choke in the first round. He then earnt a unanimous decision over Kenan Song at UFC Fight Night 233.
JARED GOODEN VS KEVIN JOUSSET PREDICTION
Gooden’s UFC record is an unflattering 2-4 but he is a very dangerous fighter. He packs a lot of power in his hands and will look to land leather on Jousset’s chin.
He will be giving up a two-inch height and reach advantage. He will also be giving up a technique advantage and we expect Jousset to be patient and pepper Gooden from range.
Gooden’s defence is average at best and we expect the Kiwi to land the better shots and take home the win. A knockout is possible and if you are feeling brave, Gooden is worth a small punt, but we expect a calculated Jousset decision.
