Carlos Diego Ferreira (18-5) took some much-needed time off in 2022 recovering from injuries and two knockout losses. After Beneil Dariush (2021) snapped an impressive six-fight win streak with a split decision, Gregor Gillespie (2021) and Mateusz Gamrot (2021) tenderized him to complete a three-fight skid. He returned a year ago to fight Michael Johnson and pulled off one of the cleanest knockouts you will see.
Mateusz Rebecki (19-1) is riding a staggering 16-fight win streak. Unfortunately, this is the first time we have seen him this year after getting all three of his UFC fights in 2023. He cruised past Nick Fiore on debut and then TKO’d Loik Radzhabov at UFC on ABC 5. He then ruthlessly submitted Roosevelt Roberts in the first round at UFC 295.

Ferreira is hoping another long layoff will produce an immaculate performance. That is what will be needed against Rebecki who has not lost in nearly a decade. That is mainly thanks to his suffocating wrestling.
He is a chunky powerhouse with the technique to match. His cardio is the only question mark, but he has usually won enough rounds with his dominance before he gets tired.
What makes this interesting is that Ferreira has exceptional jiu-jitsu and will threaten the submission off his back. His striking also continues to improve and he will back himself to find the knockout on the feet.
However, Rebecki will not give him that opportunity as he will suffocate him from the bell. He will enforce a relentless pace and is fully expected to take the Brazilian down. He will aggressively hunt the finish with ground-and-pound and submission attempts, but we can see this lasting three rounds.
