ALONZO MENIFIELD VS CARLOS ULBERG LOWDOWN
Alonzo Menifield (15-3-1) is beginning to put everything together after that disappointing unanimous decision loss to William Knight (2021). He has gone unbeaten since knocking out Askar Mozharov (2022), Misha Cirkunov (2022) before fighting to a draw with Jimmy Crute (2023). He submitted the Aussie in the rematch five months later and is now coming off a unanimous decision over Dustin Jacoby (2023).
Carlos Ulberg (9-1) is enjoying a storming run himself. He got knocked out on his UFC debut by Kennedy Nzechukwu (2021) which inevitably caused fans to write him off. However, he has gone on to outpoint Fabio Cherant (2022), knock out Tafon Nchukwi (2022), Nicolae Negumereanu (2022) and Ihor Potieiria (2023) before submitting Da Un Jung back at UFC 293 to prove the doubters wrong.
ALONZO MENIFIELD VS CARLOS ULBERG PREDICTION
This is a fascinating stylistic match-up. On paper, this looks like it will be an explosive striking battle. They are both extremely dangerous on the feet with ferocious knockout power however, Ulberg is the better more technical striker.
Menifield is showing that he can grapple offensively as well as defensively now and he has the ability to mix in takedowns with his nuclear bombs. However, it is hard to see him executing a well-thought-out strategy.
He has the ability to take Ulberg down, but we expect him to head hunt which will play into the Kiwi’s hands. Ulberg will be able to pick him apart with legs kicks and his jab while sniping counters when Menifield explodes.
Prediction: Ulberg via KO/TKO
