JOHN CASTANEDA VS KYUNG HO KANG LOWDOWN

John Castaneda (20-6) is 3-2 in the UFC now with his losses coming to Nathaniel Wood (2020) and Daniel Santos (2022). In between those losses, he pulled off two vintage finishes – a TKO over Eddie Wineland (2021) and a submission over Miles Johns (2022). He is coming off another win which was a unanimous decision over Muin Gafurov back in June.

Kyung Ho Kang (19-9 (1)) makes a rare second appearance in a year coming off two impressive wins. They came off the back of his sole loss in six fights which was a unanimous decision to Rani Yahya (2021). He responded by outpointing Batgerel Danaa (2022) and submitting Cristian Quinonez which was also back in June.

JOHN CASTANEDA VS KYUNG HO KANG PREDICTION

This should be a very exciting scrap. They are both very well rounded and aggressive. Casteneda brings more volume on the feet whereas Kang likes to pick his opponents apart from range before dragging the fight to the ground.

Casteneda is more dangerous on the feet and Kang is more dangerous on the ground so expect them to feel each other out on the feet and if Casteneda begins to find the chin, expect Kang to shoot in.

Casteneda is a very good grappler himself and his wrestling should enable him to keep the fight where he wants it. Whether that is on the feet or in top position after securing his own takedown.

Castaneda’s power, volume and submission defence should get the job done here, but Kang is more than capable of causing the upset.

Prediction: Castaneda via Decision

Value bet: Kang to win
