JARED GORDON VS MARK MADSEN LOWDOWN
Jared Gordon (19-6(1)) would just like to walk out the octagon without any controversy. He was lined up with Paddy Pimblett (2022) after earning a unanimous decision over Leonardo Santos four months prior. He did enough to earn a decision, but all three judges gave it the other way. The UFC clearly agreed as they then paired him with Bobby Green (2023). He ended up getting knocked out, but only after a significant clash of heads taking his UFC tally to (7-5(1).
Now, he has been handed another machine in the form of Mark Madsen (12-1). He is coming off the first loss of his career after getting submitted in the third round by Grant Dawson (2022). Leading up to that he had grinded out decisions over Austin Hubbard (2020), Clay Guida (2021) and Vinc Picher (2022) including a knockout over Danilo Belluardo (2019) on debut.

Expect Madsen to go about business as usual bringing a furious pace looking to suffocate Gordon with his Greco-Roman wrestling. His striking is steadily improving, but now he is deep in the lightweight division, he cannot afford to hang on the feet for too long.
Gordon is the better striker and he will be spurred on by the grappling success of Dawson. However, we expect the game plan to defend the takedowns for the first round and wait for Madsen to fade and let his hands go in the second and third round.
We understand why Gordon is the favourite, but we feel Madsen will cruise the first round and his cardio will hold out to earn enough control time to sway the judges.
