MI London vs SunRisers Leeds prediction
Under the guise Oval Invincibles, the team based at the Kia Oval were winners of each of the last three men’s Hundred tournaments. But having sold a stake of the franchise to the owners of IPL powerhouse Mumbai Indians, it’s all change in South London. A rebrand to MI London has taken place, following the likes of MI Cape Town and MI New York and the squad has undergone a refresh. Three-time title winning captain Sam Billings has gone as has head coach Tom Moody, but the Curran brothers remain, as do Will Jacks and Nathan Sowter.
Northern Superchargers are another franchise to be taken over by IPL ownership, in their case the custodians of Sunrisers Hyderabad, who purchased a majority stake in the team. This has led to the birth of SunRisers Leeds and after failing to win the men’s Hundred since the competition began, the new ownership will hope they can spark a turnaround. They have been hugely successful with Sunrisers Eastern Cape over in South Africa and with players like Harry Brook, Mitch Marsh and Nathan Ellis under their control, there is reason for optimism.
Whilst it has been a substantial changing of the guard for MI London and they do possess an inexperienced head coach in Kieron Pollard, the champions boast a very strong squad. An in-form James Vince moving over from Southern Brave makes their top order even more imposing, whilst Rashid Khan has to be seen as one of best overseas players available across the competition. Expect them to start with victory at home.
