Mayar Sherif is back in action for the first time in a month after having to pull out of her semi-final in Hamburg while a set down. She’s been in magnificent form since Wimbledon, winning both the WTA 125 in Contrexeville and the IASI Open before her run to the last four in Germany. That bodes well for the Egyptian heading into this encounter.

Oleksandra Olinynykova was a quarter-finalist in Hamburg, before losing in the opening round of the Canadian Open.
