Lech Poznan vs Sunderland prediction

Lech Poznan have already been beaten once in the league phase by Premier League opposition, and they come up against another here in the form of Sunderland. Crystal Palace comfortably dispatched the Polish side 4-0 and since then, Poznan have suffered another heavy defeat, also by four goals to nil, this time at the hands of Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen.

Sunderland are unlikely to win as convincingly based on what we’ve seen from them recently both domestically and in Europe. They fell to a fourth straight Premier League loss on Sunday and if Lech Poznan start well and put the Black Cats under some heavy pressure, there’s a chance of the hosts scoring their first goal of the league phase.

However, despite Sunderland’s troubles, their Premier League squad remains packed with talent and Poznan cannot compete with the financial riches at Sunderland’s disposal. Combine that with what we’ve seen from Niels Frederiksen’s side so far in terms of their defence not being equipped to handle the better teams in this league phase and it’s well worth backing Sunderland to register a third straight league phase victory.
