Leandro Riedi advanced to round four of the US Open after his opponent Kamil Majchrzak retired in the first set due to injury. The Swiss was leading 5-3. Riedi was ranked 435 in the world before this tournament began, but the qualifier is just one match away from a Grand Slam quarter-final.
