Karen Khachanov vs Aleksander Vukic prediction
Karen Khachanov’s best result on clay this season came at the Barcelona Open as he reached the semi-finals. The Russian could not find a way past an inspired Holger Rune, losing in straight sets. He’s been unable to make another last four appearance since then, though he was the only player to take a set off Carlos Alcaraz at the Italian Open, with Khachanov losing a close round-of-16 match. He suffered a disappointing result last time out, as he was defeated by Sebastian Ofner in the quarter-finals of the Geneva Open despite taking the first set.
Aleksander Vukic massively struggled on tour after getting through to the third round of the Australian Open at his home slam. After that encouraging run, he went on a 10-match losing streak over the course of nearly three months. Vukic stopped the rot and reeled off three successive wins on his way to making the semi-finals of an Estoril Challenger but then suffered a disappointing loss in the first stage of qualifying for the Hamburg Open.
Vukic is still struggling for consistency after his slump and Khachanov, who reached the quarter-finals here in 2019 and 2023, should be fancied for a dominant first-round win.
Karen Khachanov vs Aleksander Vukic tip: Karen Khachanov to win 3-0
