Kamil Majchrzak vs Leandro Riedi prediction
Kamil Majchrzak reached the third-round of the US Open for the second time in his career after defeating Karen Khachanov in a dramatic five set encounter. Khachanov had won their fourth-round meeting at Wimbledon less than two months ago, but the Pole gained revenge here with a fantastic comeback victory, winning 2-6 6-7 6-4 7-5 7-6. He came from 5-2 down in the deciding set and saved five match points in total.
Leandro Riedi is his next opponent as he also came from two sets down to register the best win of his career against Francisco Cerundolo. Riedi won 3-6 4-6 6-4 6-4 6-2 to become the lowest ranked player since Danny Sapsford at Wimbledon in 1999 to make the third-round of a major. He is currently ranked 435 in the world, but this has been the best tournament of his career as he now has five wins on the bounce from qualifying.
Riedi will take that momentum with him, but Majchrzak is in brilliant form at the moment, having already won a title on the Challenger Tour earlier this month. He is a strong favourite to make it through to the fourth-round here for the first time.
