Joao Fonseca vs Pierre-Hugues Herbert prediction

Joao Fonseca made a brilliant start to his maiden French Open, as he produced a fabulous performance to defeat in-form Hubert Hurkacz in straight sets. Hurkacz had reached the quarter-finals of the Italian Open and the final in Geneva leading up to this, but he was blown off the court by the Brazilian teenager, who won 6-2 6-4 6-2. 

He now takes on French veteran Pierre-Hugues Hubert in the next round after he defeated compatriot Benjamin Bonzi for the first time. The wildcard registered his first singles win at Roland Garros since 2020 as he came from two sets to one down to win 7-5 3-6 4-6 7-5 6-2. 

Fonseca struck the ball with venom during his first-round match and dictated nearly the entire match with his offensive game. He hadn’t been in form heading into Roland Garros, having won just once over the past month, but Herbert will not be able to stop him if he puts in a similar performance in his second-round match.

We think Fonseca is likely to win in straight sets once more.
