Alex Michelsen vs Yannick Hanfmann prediction

Alex Michelsen arrives in Stockholm following a competitive showing in Paris Masters, where he defeated Jiri Lehecka in the first-round. Michelsen then faced seven-time Grand Slam champion Carlos Alcaraz in the next stage; he opened up a 4-1 lead in the first set tiebreak, but Alcaraz would fight back to win 7-6 (4) 6-3. The American also reached the Brussels quarter-finals in October, losing a tight encounter to Arthur Fils. 2026 has been an encouraging year for the 22-year-old, who advanced to his first ever major quarter-final at the US Open.

His first-round opponent in Stockholm is Yannick Hanfmann. The German qualified for the Swiss Indoors last month after wins over Marcos Giron and Rinky Hijikata but lost in the opening round to Jan-Lennard Struff. He failed to qualify for the Paris Masters after a loss to Benjamin Bonzi. 

Michelsen leads the head-to-head 1-0, having defeated Hanfmann in Halle qualifying two years ago. Hanfmann’s serve should keep him competitive, but I expect Michelsen to take control of the rallies.
