Jiri Lehecka vs Carlos Alcaraz prediction

Jiri Lehecka equalled his best run at a major as he defeated Adrian Mannarino in four sets to make the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam for the second time. The Czech held off a Mannarino fightback, as he took the third set and broke at the start of the fourth, reeling off the last six games of the match to win 7-6 6-4 2-6 6-2. Lehecka struggled with the Frenchman’s flat shot trajectory at times but still overwhelmed the veteran to come through with the win.

He will now face world number two Carlos Alcaraz in the last eight. Alcaraz has still not dropped a set at this year’s US Open as he beat Arthur Rinderknech 7-6 6-3 6-4. The Spaniard raised his game in the first set tiebreak to take a crucial lead, before breaking the Frenchman’s serve on two occasions to win comfortably. Alcaraz wowed the New York crowd with some incredible shot making, producing 36 winners to 11 unforced errors.

Alcaraz leads the head-to-head 2-1, but it’s Lehecka that has won their only match on outdoor hard court. He beat the five-time Grand Slam champion earlier this year in Doha, with Alcaraz winning their last meeting in the final of Queen’s Club.

This will be the Spaniard’s biggest test so far and he will have to dig deep at times, but it’s difficult to look beyond Alcaraz considering the way he’s been playing at this event so far.

Jiri Lehecka vs Carlos Alcaraz tip: Carlos Alcaraz to win 3-0 or 3-1
