Jannik Sinner vs Felix Auger-Aliassime prediction
Jannik Sinner continued the defence of his title with a thumping win over compatriot Lorenzo Musetti in the quarter-finals. Sinner made yet another storming start and came through to win 6-1 6-4 6-2 and extend his winning run at the hard court majors to 26 matches. Sinner did struggle at times in his third-round match against Denis Shapovalov but apart from that, it’s been serene progress for the Italian.
He will now take on Felix Auger-Aliassime for a place in the final. The Canadian booked his place in the last four of the event for the second time in his career after coming from a set and a break down to defeat Alex De Minaur. Auger-Aliassime was also 5-2 down in the fourth set but staged a fightback to win 4-6 7-6 7-5 7-6 after four hours and 10 minutes. Neither player performed to their best, but this event has been a return to form for Auger-Aliassime, having already defeated Alexander Zverev and Andrey Rublev.
He also leads this head-to-head 2-1 but Sinner won their last meeting in convincing fashion just last month in Cincinnati. The Italian has established himself as the dominant force on this surface over the past 18 months and he is a heavy favourite to overwhelm Auger-Aliassime and book his place in the final of a fifth Grand Slam in a row.
