Israel vs Venezuela prediction

After Milwaukee Brewers’ young batting phenom Jackson Chourio was a late scratch, Venezuela lost a significant power outlet for their opening pool game. It proved to be a non-factor as other key hitters such as Wilson Contreras and Javier Sanoja came through for their country, as a four-run fifth inning led them to a 6-2 victory over Netherlands. Rangers Suarez was strong as expected on the pitching side and the Venezuelan bullpen in particular was fire, Daniel Palencia drawing attention when closing with two strikeouts in a lights-out ninth which saw him reach three figures on the speed gun, a 101mph fastball fanning Jakey Josepha.

Whilst Israel avoids Suarez, they could come up against Eduardo Rodriguez or German Marquez. Either way, they’ll need to contend with a tough bullpen but more important, a batting line-up packed with difference makers whether it be Ronald Acuna Jr leading off, or that middle order of Salvador Perez, Wilyer Abreu and the Contreras brothers. Venezuela’s embarrassment of riches could grow even more should Chourio be passed fit to play. Even if he isn’t quite ready, Venezuela are still expected to win and by a distance at that.
