India will provide the World Test Champions with a formidable assignment, as South Africa attempt to follow up a mixed two-game series in Pakistan which ended in a 1-1 draw. The worry from the Proteas’ perspective is that India have more quality in the batting department to counter South Africa’s spin-bowlers, whereas it remains to be seen if the tourists boast the same quality in these conditions.

Expect South Africa to put up a strong fight, especially with the likes of Keshav Maharaj and Simon Harmer capable of generating substantial turn if the pitch suits them. But India are a Test match juggernaut on home soil as they showed last month when they hammered West Indies. Whilst South Africa are a stronger opponent, India are still well worth backing to win.
