This is a crucial game in Pool B for multiple reasons. Italy still harbour hopes of finishing second-place and qualifying for the quarter-finals but will need to win this match to aide their chances. For Great Britain, they want to avoid finishing bottom of the table and having to qualify for the next World Baseball Classic, so victory for them would be massive in that regard.

Whilst Team USA proved a step too far for the Brits, they held Mexico at 1-1 all the way up to the eighth inning and it would be no surprise if we saw another close one here, particularly when you consider how Italy initially struggled to score against Brazil the day before, shut out through the first five innings.
