With all four nations in Group A now locked together on three points apiece, the equation is simple. The winners of the two remaining group games will qualify for the next round, whilst the third-spot will be decided via head-to-head record. That makes this potentially an early knockout fixture between Germany and Mali, after the latter stunned Spain last time out whilst the former defeated Japan.
Germany’s spluttering offence has been a worry for them and especially when you consider how good Mali have been from an attacking perspective. They managed to put 97 points on the board against Japan despite losing and to get the better of Spain 82-73 underlines how much of a threat they pose going forward. It’s hard to see Germany outscoring them, based on what we’ve seen so far from them.
