- Co-hosts of the 2026 finals, Mexico achieved their best finish on the two occasions when they previously hosted the tournament, having reached the quarter-finals in 1970 and again in 1986.
- Mexico’s run of seven successive appearances in the knockout rounds of the FIFA World Cup™ ended when they exited Qatar 2022 after the group stage.
- Mexican legend Rafael Márquez is the only player to captain his nation at five FIFA World Cup™ tournaments, having done so at each edition from 2002 to 2018.
