Having come through the academies of Asturian clubs Real Oviedo and Sporting Gijon, Alvaro Fidalgo turned professional at Real Madrid before going on to establish himself as a key man for Club America between 2021 and 2026. After winning six trophies with the Mexican giants, Fidalgo returned to Spain in January 2026, joining Manuel Pellegrini’s Real Betis. He had gained Mexican citizenship by that stage and his request to switch international allegiance to Mexico, having represented Spain at youth international level, in February 2026, and he has gone straight into Javier Aguirre's first XI.
