In a squad that is dominated by Mamelodi Sundowns stars, it is an Orlando Pirates player that is the star of the South Africa squad at this summer’s FIFA World Cup. Versatile attacker Oswin Appollis, who can play out-wide on the left as well as a bit more centrally, scored a couple of goals in this winter’s CAF Africa Cup of Nations and continued his impressive form for Bafana Bafana by scoring the equaliser in a 1-1 draw with Panama back in March. Alongside Burnley striker Lyle Foster, Appollis may well make a bigger name for himself this summer in what is a proactive and often attacking South Africa side under Hugo Broos.
