South Africa manager Hugo Broos has announced his 26-man squad for FIFA World Cup 2026.

For the first time since they hosted FIFA World Cup 2010, South Africa are back on the global stage and Bafana Bafana boss Hugo Broos has named his 26-man squad to travel to North America.

Captained by Ronwen Williams, of CAF Champions League finalists the Mamelodi Sundowns, South Africa have some strong experience throughout the squad, such as Themba Zwane and Teboho Mokoena in midfield and Khuliso Mudai and Audrey Modiba at the back.

The standout names, though, are a bit younger than that quintet with the two stars in attack being that of Burnley attacker Lyle Foster and Orlando Pirates’ Oswin Appollis, both of whom are into double figures for goals for their nation.

There is also exciting defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi to keep an eye from a neutral perspective with the 20-year-old, who plies his trade in the United States with Chiago Fire in Major League Soccer, very highly-rated.

The aforementioned Mamelodi Sundowns put in some exciting performances at last summer’s FIFA Club World Cup in the US and eight of the South African squad come from the South African champions – and so that familiarity with the conditions may well be a benefit for them when the face Czechia in the US, sandwiched between games in Mexico against El Tri in the opening game of the tournament and then against Korea Republic in their final game.
