Real Madrid have been poor for a couple of months and, when they were 2-0 down inside 15 minutes at Anfield in midweek, Carlo Ancelotti was a man under serious pressure. However, Los Blancos rallied, as they so often do in the UEFA Champions League, to win the first-leg of their Round of 16 tie by five goals to two. They now face their city rivals, Atletico Madrid, that have underwhelmed throughout the campaign in what does appear to be the final few months of Diego Simeone’s long reign. Los Rojiblancos have improved somewhat in the last month or so, though, and a draw would appear a good bet for this one at the Bernabeu.
