ALMERIA PREVIEW: ROCK-BOTTOM ALMERIA

In what has been a miserable campaign for Almeria, they will finish off their season against fellow relegated regional rivals Cadiz. Vicente Moreno and Gaizka Garitano were both sacked earlier in the campaign with former West Bromwich Albion boss Pepe Mel tasked with seeing the strugglers through until the end of the season.

Statistically, they will go down as one of the worst teams to ever play in Spain’s top-flight but that is perhaps an unfair reflection on some of their performances throughout the campaign, whereby they have actually posed quite a lot of problems to some of the leading sides before collapsing late on in games, losing 3-2 at the Bernabeu against Real Madrid from 2-0 up being the best example.

CADIZ PREVIEW: RELEGATED CADIZ

In mid-January, Cadiz took the decision to sack their manager Sergio and replace him with former Southampton boss Mauricio Pellegrino. Playing a similarly defensively solid style of football, the visitors head into the final day of the season having already been relegated when it looked like they had just about found a way to survive.

They had a glorious opportunity to really put the pressure on to Real Mallorca on this final day but blew it at home to an out of form as Las Palmas side. In a game which they were absolutely desperate to score for all three points, they managed just three shots on target and that was ultimately their demise.

ALMERIA TEAM NEWS: GONZALO MELERO REMAINS SUSPENDED

Almeria have a couple of availability issues for this weekend’s regional derby against Cadiz on the final day of the campaign. Midfielder Iddrisu Baba is an injury doubt for this one, whilst Gonzalo Melero is out suspended, too.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Fernando; Pozo, Cesar Montes, Chumi, Langa; Edgar Gonzalez, Robertone; Luka Romero, Sergio Arribas, Alex Centelles; Luis Suarez

UNAVAILABLE: Gonzalo Melero (Suspended)

QUESTIONABLE: Baba (Injured)

CADIZ TEAM NEWS: CHUST & RAMOS SIDELINED THROUGH SUSPENSION

On this final day of the season, Cadiz have two new absentees as both Victor Chust and attacker Chris Ramos are missing through suspension for the visitors. The likes of Jorge Mere and Rominuqye Kouame remain unavailable with injuries.

PREDICTED XI (4-4-2): Ledesma; Joseba Zaldua, Fali, Mbaye, J. Hernandez; Ruben Sobrino, Escalante, Ruben Alcaraz, Robert Navarro; Juanmi, Roger

UNAVAILABLE: Victor Chust (Suspended), Chris Ramos (Suspended), Jorge Mere (Injured), Jose Mari (Injured), Kouame (Injured), L. Hernandez (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Ousou (Injured)

ALMERIA VS CADIZ PREDICTION

Their aforementioned goalless draw against Las Palmas had come on the back of a last gasp win against Sevilla at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan; giving Cadiz a major opportunity of surviving. In fact, they have actually only suffered five losses in their last 12 matches as their battle from an almost impossible position began. Almeria, as mentioned, have shown fight against the leading sides but come unstuck against those around them and with just two wins in 37 matches, it is never daft to back against them.
