In January, Roma took the decision to part company with Jose Mourinho and replaced him with club legend Daniele De Rossi. Ever since De Rossi’s appointment, the Romans have been magnificent in both Serie A and the UEFA Europa League, whereby they have reached the quarter-finals with two-legged victories over Feyenoord and Brighton and Hove Albion.
The Giallorossi shared an entertaining 2-2 draw with Fiorentina last weekend and they have managed six victories and a draw in their eight Serie A matches in that run since mid-January. Roma’s eight matches have been very entertaining too, with them consisting of a combined total of 33 goals.
SASSUOLO
Many would have argued that the recent sacking of Alessio Dionisi was long overdue with Sassuolo significantly underperforming down in Serie A’s relegation battle. However, it took a defeat at home to Dionisi’s in-form former club, Empoli, before Sassuolo pulled the trigger and they have since replaced him with Davide Ballardini.
Ballardini’s reign began with a 6-1 thrashing at the hands of Napoli before then being edged out by a goal to nil by Hellas Verona at the Bentegodi. However, Sassuolo now do come into this one on the back of a desperate and much-needed 1-0 defeat of Frosinone last weekend with a 58th minute winner from Kristian Thorstvedt.

Daniele De Rossi is missing some key players this weekend as Chris Smalling is back on the sidelines alongside the likes of Renato Sanches, Rasmus Nissen Kristensen, Romelu Lukaku and Tammy Abraham.

THE PREDICTION
This one is expected to be a fairly one-sided encounter at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday evening. Roma are the overwhelming favourites, despite the recent key injuries that they have picked up. Sassuolo have improved a touch with their performances and got a much-needed win last weekend but this is a real step up in quality, even arguably from Napoli who beat them 6-1. A comfortable Roman win is to be expected.
