THE PREDICTION
Former Netherlands international Stanley Menzo was appointed manager of the Suriname national football team just a couple of weeks ago and this is his first match in charge. A-Selektie finished second in their Preliminary group of CONCACAF qualification for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, behind a Canada side that look like they may go on to qualify for the main event. Nigel Hasselbaink’s six goals in qualification was a standout for the Surinamese. They now come up against a Barbados side that, fresh off the back of attaining complete independence from the UK and becoming the world’s newest republic in late 2021, have work to do with their football side. Their qualifying campaign saw them win one game out of five, including an 8-1 defeat to Bermuda. Suriname will expect to win this one quite comfortably, especially at home.
