THE LOWDOWN

BORUSSIA DORTMUND

Three consecutive wins in all competitions has come at the perfect time for Borussia Dortmund. Fresh off a brace of Bundesliga victories on the road over Union Berlin and Werder Bremen respectively, Edin Terzic’s side held their nerve and got the better of PSV Eindhoven by two goals to nil in their Champions League round of 16 second-leg tie, advancing through to the quarter-finals. With that in mind, the players within Dortmund’s squad must be riding the crest of a wave, although with fourth-placed RB Leipzig winners already in this latest round of Bundesliga fixtures, the hosts cannot afford a slip-up.

EINTRACHT FRANKFURT

Like Borussia Dortmund, Eintracht Frankfurt were also winners in each of their last two Bundesliga fixtures. After getting the better of Heidenheim by two goals to one away from home, Eintracht returned home to defeat Hoffenheim 3-1 despite going behind early on. They were slow out of the blocks and paid the price by conceding in the sixth minute, but Eintracht rallied to eventually come out on top, a real show of character. Against a side of Dortmund’s quality though, another poor start is unlikely to see them let off the hook again.

THE PREDICTION

Progression in the Champions League always brings the possibility of a distraction from domestic matters. But the strength-in-depth and experience within this Borussia Dortmund side should ensure no such issues occur from their point of view. Home advantage may prove vital here when taking into account the obvious threat posed by Eintracht Frankfurt and combining defensive stability with attacking potency like they have so well in recent weeks is key for Borussia Dortmund. A close encounter looks on the cards, but back the hosts to do just enough to pick up three points.

TIP: BORUSSIA DORTMUND TO WIN
