THE LOWDOWN
AUGSBURG
Augsburg continued their winless run to begin the season as they were beaten 3-0 by RB Leipzig last week. They have just two points to their name from four matches and the pressure will be on in this clash with Mainz.
Both of their points came on home soil and they have lost just two of their last 11 when playing at home in the Bundesliga so this should represent a good chance for them to claim a maiden win of the campaign.
MAINZ
Mainz suffered a third loss in their opening four matches as they looked poor at the back once again. They shipped three goals as they were downed by Stuttgart and that is now 12 conceded across their four games to date which is an obvious issue for them.
They have struggled on the road for a long time with them conceding four goals in each of their two away games so far this season while they have failed to win in any of their last six games away from home.
THE TEAM NEWS
AUGSBURG
Augsburg are struggling with a fairly significant injury list but will hope that Niklas Dorsch is not added to that come kick-off. He is in some doubt with a thigh issue but there is some hope that he will be able to take his spot in the starting XI.

QUESTIONABLE: Dorsch (Injured)
MAINZ
Mainz are also dealing with several injury concerns ahead of this game and may look to tweak their formation as a result with Karim Onisiwo and Ludovic Ajorque set to play a big role in the attacking third.
PREDICTED XI (3-4-2-1): Zentner; Van den Berg, Bell, Fernandes; Caci, Barreiro, Kohr, Mwene; Lee, Onisiwo; Ajorque

THE PREDICTION
Augsburg and Mainz have both made poor starts to the season with the pair yet to claim a first win of the campaign. Both have struggled to get going with defensive issues a common theme. However, the respective home and away records of the two teams - stretching back to last season - does suggest that Augsburg should be able to earn a positive result in this one.
