THE LOWDOWN

STRASBOURG

Strasbourg have been dealing with several off-field protests this season as supporters become extremely unhappy with the American takeover of the club by Todd Boehly and BlueCo, which has essentially made the Alsace-based club just a feeder club to Premier League side Chelsea. They have also been underwhelming on the pitch, too.

They remain under the management of former Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira as they languish in the bottom-half of the Ligue 1 table. The hosts come into this one on the back of a 3-1 hammering at the hands of struggling Le Havre in their most recent outing, last weekend, making it three successive losses for the southerners.

METZ

For the vast majority of this season, having gained promotion to the top-flight last year, Metz have been generally impressive and have stuck by manager Laszlo Boloni. They do, though, enter into the final few weeks of the campaign very much involved in the relegation battle and firmly tucked inside the relegation playoff place.

The visitors come into this one on the back of a 3-2 defeat at home to Stade Rennais at Stade Saint-Symphorien last weekend. Georges Mikautadze, continuing his fine form, opened the scoring but Arnaud Kalimuendo eventually snatched three points for Rennes with a second-half stoppage-time winner.

THE PREDICTION

We have the potential for a genuinely entertaining encounter in this one. Patrick Vieira’s Strasbourg are always intending to get on the front foot, albeit they have often been quite ineffective in doing so. Metz, on the other hand, will be looking to launch themselves at the hosts with a vigour that has been shown in the last month or so since the return to form of Georgia international Georges Mikautadze. Both teams scoring looks a good bet for this one.
