Another fairly unnecessary rebuild to take place in Marseille this summer with Marcelino replacing Igor Tudor and several flashy incomings, such as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Iliman Ndiaye. Marcelino has already departed the club in bizarre circumstances, being replaced by former AC Milan and Napoli manager, Gennaro Gattuso.
Gattuso’s opening two matches in charge have been frustrating for Marseille supporters but entertaining for the neutral. They blew a two-goal lead to draw at home to Brighton and Hove Albion in the group stages of the UEFA Europa League in midweek after a 3-2 defeat away to Monaco last weekend, in which they had also taken the lead.
LE HAVRE
Le Havre gained promotion to the French top-flight for the first time in over 15 years last season as they finished as Ligue 2 champions. After an impressive summer transfer window which included the arrivals of the likes of Daler Kuzyayev and Mohamed Bayo, they have started relatively strongly, pushing towards the top-half of the table.
They, though, do come into this one on the back of a 2-0 defeat at home to Lille in their most recent outing, last weekend, with both goals coming within a few minutes either side of the half-time interval. That means their opening seven Ligue 1 matches have consisted of two victories, three draws and two defeats so far.

Olympique de Marseille are now winless in their last six matches across all competitions after their failure to hold on to a victory against either Monaco or Brighton. Gennaro Gattuso has his work cut out after what had been a promising start to the season, at least in terms of their results. They face a Le Havre side that would view survival by any means as success and they have started steadily, despite their hammering at the hands of Lille last weekend. Le Havre will go to the south and know Marseille’s defence is leaky so a fun match for the neutral would not be a surprise.
