However, a heavily congested fixture list caused by Covid-19 related postponements alongside progression in both the FA Cup and EFL Trophy may be starting to affect Latics, who have drawn their last two league matches. Meanwhile, Stoke have had the luxury of seven days to prepare for this clash, three more than their opponents and are likely to field a strong team with plenty of strength-in-depth on the bench that should allow them to dominate, particularly as the match goes on and the visitors tire. Wigan in comparison may be forced to rest a selection of key players when taking into account their crammed schedule and when considering that the Potters also boast the availability of talisman Nick Powell following a return from injury, Stoke should be favoured to overcome Powell’s former club in this one.
