Ahead of this match, Marco Silva confirmed Fulham’s intentions and dreams of earning European qualification, saying that The Cottagers ‘deserve it’, following promotion from the Championship last season.
The west London club have played a settled 4-2-3-1 system for much of the campaign with fluency in attack allowing for some entertaining matches throughout the campaign.
The one area of the team that has changed more than others is the right centre-back role, which is set to be filled by on-loan Frenchman Issa Diop, ahead of Tosin Adarabioyo. He is set to partner captain Tim Ream with Ream’s compatriot, Antonee Robinson, starting at left-back and Kenny Tete on the right.
Layvin Kurzawa is an option for Fulham with the loanee from PSG playing well when called upon and there are doubts over Robinson’s availability, due to a recent illness.
In midfield, Harrison Reed has retained his spot for much of the campaign with excellent performances managing to keep out the likes of club captain Tom Cairney and new signing Sasa Lukic. Reed will start alongside Joao Palhinha, who has been a revelation and a real coup for Fulham this season.
Behind the striker, they are expected to field their now regular trio of Bobby Decordova-Reid, Andreas Pereira and Willian. Decordova-Reid’s versatility and hard work down the right-hand side and, given that they are travelling away from home against a good attacking side in Brighton, it is likely Silva retains the Jamaican in the side, ahead of the more gung-ho options of Manor Solomon, Harry Wilson or Daniel James.
There are doubts over Willian’s fitness ahead of this one, though, but if available then the Brazilian is a guaranteed starter. The former Chelsea and Arsenal winger has been outstanding for the newly-promoted club this season and will leave big shoes to fill by the likes of Solomon, Wilson or James if he is injured.
Another man that could leave big shoes to fill is their talismanic frontman, Aleksandar Mitrovic. The Serb is almost permanently not 100% and there are doubts over his involvement this weekend. If he is unavailable then Carlos Vinicius has shown he is a capable understudy up-front.
