THE LOWDOWN

NORWICH

  • A penalty from Cristiano Ronaldo condemned Norwich to a third consecutive Premier League defeat under new boss Dean Smith this past Saturday and with a large number of players missing for the visit of Aston Villa, Smith must utilise his squad to its maximum here.
  • Defenders Andrew Omobamidele and captain Grant Hanley are both absent through injury, although fellow centre-back Ben Gibson has a good chance of being passed fit in time to feature.

ASTON VILLA

  • Aston Villa fell to a narrow 1-0 loss away at Liverpool in manager Steven Gerrard’s return to Anfield and they’ll be desperate to get back to winning ways at Carrow Road with them currently just two points outside the Premier League’s top half.
  • Danny Ings made his return from injury via the substitutes bench at the weekend and it would be no surprise if he were to start this one, whilst Bertrand Traore, Marvelous Nakamba and Leon Bailey are out injured.

THE PREDICTION

Aston Villa have significantly improved since Steven Gerrard took the over the reins from Dean Smith, although the former Villa boss will be desperate to get one over on his former club and pick up what would be a significant three points in the process for Norwich. Whilst the Canaries failed to score against Man Utd, they were a big threat going forward and only the brilliance of David De Gea kept them from finding the net. A similar performance against Villa would give them a great chance of netting at least once against a side that has failed to keep a clean sheet in their last three league games. However, the visitors themselves will pose serious problems for the Norwich defence, particularly with star striker Ings back in the form and both teams to score has to be favoured in this one.

Tip: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
