THE LOWDOWN

MAN CITY

  • Depending on Chelsea’s result away at Leicester the day before, Man City may find themselves six points adrift of the Blues heading into this game, making three points against Everton absolutely crucial for them.
  • Jack Grealish is unlikely to feature and Phil Foden is carrying a knock but has a better chance of featuring, while Kevin De Bruyne has tested positive for COVID-19 and is unavailable for selection.

EVERTON

  • Everton are currently undergoing a worrying run of results, having not won in their last five Premier League games and manager Rafael Benitez is unsurprisingly drawing frustration from Everton fans who likely didn’t want him to be appointed in the first place due to his connections on the red side of Liverpool.
  • Benitez remains without some of his most important players, with Abdoulaye Doucoure, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin each remaining on the treatment table while Andre Gomes and Yerry Mina are also not ready for a return yet, and Mason Holgate is suspended.

THE PREDICTION

Everton’s losing run against Man City in the Premier League currently stands at seven matches and counting. Unfortunately for their fans, the Toffees have shown no recent signs of having the ability to turn things around here. Their poor recent run has likely drained confidence among their squad and the injuries to players such as Doucoure and Calvert-Lewin cannot be underestimated in terms of their importance. Whilst the visitors will likely try and set up to make themselves as difficult as possible to break down with an eye on catching Man City out either on the counter-attack or through a set piece, the home side should ultimately have too much for their opponents going forward and backing Man City to secure a hard-fought three points is the sensible move.

Tip: MAN CITY TO WIN
