THE LOWDOWN

LIVERPOOL

  • Liverpool kept the pressure firmly on league leaders Man City by overcoming Aston Villa at the weekend courtesy of a Mohamed Salah penalty, their seventh straight win in all competitions.
  • Forwards Roberto Firmino and Divock Origi both stand a chance of playing some part in this match, although Harvey Elliott, Curtis Jones and Nat Phillips are all out.

NEWCASTLE

  • It felt like one step forward, two steps back for Newcastle this past Sunday following their 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Leicester, leaving them still three points adrift of safety.
  • Aside from defender Paul Dummett, manager Eddie Howe has a fully-fit squad to choose from ahead of their trip to Anfield and he’ll need them at their best for what will be an extremely tough test.

THE PREDICTION

Liverpool don’t look like taking their foot off the gas anytime soon in their quest to reach the top of the Premier League table and are expected to dominate a Newcastle side who have shipped six goals across their two away matches played since the appointment of Howe as their new manager without scoring themselves. It goes without saying that Liverpool boasts vastly superior players all over the pitch and boss Jurgen Klopp will ensure that any complacency is left inside the dressing room. A totally dominant is likely from the home side and any outcome other than a Liverpool win by at least two clear goals would be considered a surprise.

Tip: LIVERPOOL TO WIN WITH -1 HANDICAP
