AC Milan Show Interest In English Defender

Serie A giants AC Milan have reportedly shown an interest in AFC Bournemouth defender, Lloyd Kelly, ahead of a potential move to the Rossoneri in the January transfer window.

It is believed that both Milan and Serie A rivals Juventus are interested in the 25-year-old Bristolian centre-back, who is out of contract with The Cherries in the summer of 2024.

Kelly was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur on the final day of the previous summer transfer window but a move never came to fruition.

He began his youth career with his hometown club, Bristol City, in 2011 and played for The Robins’ academy for six years until 2017 when he made his first-team debut at the age of just 18.

In three seasons as a professional with City, he made 48 appearances and scored two goals playing at both left-back and centre-back.

Amid interest from Liverpool in the summer of 2019, he did make a move to the Premier League when he signed for AFC Bournemouth for a fee believed to be in the region of £13 million.

He made just eight appearances in the top-flight that season but established himself as a key man over the next couple of seasons in the second-tier, becoming captain as Bournemouth returned back to the Premier League. Since mid-way through last year, he has found it difficult for regular playing time due to the arrivals of the likes of Marcos Senesi and Illya Zabarnyi.

If Kelly was to move to San Siro then he would link up with another English centre-half in Fikayo Tomori, who has become a key man for the 19-time Italian champions.
