England vs Zimbabwe prediction

England will be expected to start the home summer with a comfortable victory against Zimbabwe, whose preparation for this Test saw them lose a warm-up match by 138 runs vs a select county XI. Whilst the tourists do boast a couple of dangerous bowlers such as pacer Blessing Muzarabani, not to mention some experienced batters, England are superior in quality across all departments, even with a starting line-up missing some key players and including a debutant in Essex bowler Sam Cook.

After having starred in county cricket for many years, Cook is likely to make a big impact in this Test, but the sensible play would be to back a proven performer. Joe Root so often scores big for England in red ball cricket and on usually a good pitch at Trent Bridge, backing him to rack up a high number of runs across the four days has to be favoured.

England vs Zimbabwe tip: Joe Root to score over 76.5 match runs
