England vs India prediction
India made light work of their run chase in the first ODI of this series after bowling England out for 258. The same old deficiencies were on show from the hosts with everyone apart from Joe Root failing to pace their innings and ultimately losing wickets at bad times. Root was left stranded on 76 as spinner Axar Patel ripped through England’s lower order. However, India’s win came at a price as captain Shubman Gill was forced to retire hurt on 80. It is thought to be just cramp rather than a hamstring injury, although his availability for this next game is in doubt.
Even if Gill wasn’t to play though, India still boast the likes of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to guide the ship and with both Washington Sundar along with Axar striking half-centuries at Edgbaston, plenty of Indian players are in excellent form. All the ingredients are there for the tourists to go on and double their series lead in Wales.
