Daniel Altmaier vs Alex de Minaur prediction
Daniel Altmaier came from two sets to one down to defeat former world number three Stefanos Tsitsipas in the second-round. The German even saved a match point in the fifth set at 5-4 down when serving, eventually coming through to win 7-6 1-6 4-6 6-3 7-5. Altmaier was aggressive throughout the match as he serve and volleyed 28 times in total. He has made the fourth-round of Roland Garros on two occasions, but this is the first time he’s in the third-round of any of the other three majors.
Alex de Minaur is his next opponent. The Australian comfortably got past Shintaro Mochizuki 6-2 6-4 6-2 to book his place in the next round. He made just 23 unforced errors compared to his opponent’s 50. De Minaur stumbled in the second set, as he was broken on two occasions, but it’s largely been serene progress for him in the tournament up to this point.
They played for the first time earlier this year, with De Minaur beating Altmaier in straight sets at the quarter-final stage of the Rotterdam Open. The Australian is such a solid player and it’s difficult to see Altmaier finding a way to victory.
