THE TEAM NEWS

MONTREAL TIGERS

  • Montreal Tigers come into this match having lost their final game of round one to the Toronto Nationals as their 136/9 on Sunday was nowhere near enough and they ultimately lost by four wickets.
  • Their batting remains hugely fragile despite containing plenty of overseas stars and the reality is that out of Coetzer, Gunasekera, Chandimal, Bailey and Thisara Perera, it is only really Kyle Coetzer that has any real form of note at the moment.
  • Fawad Ahmed is showing signs of finding some form with the ball along with Scot Kuggeleijn, but the reality is that they desperately need their batsmen to raise their game quickly if they are to challenge in the knockout phase.

TORONTO NATIONALS

  • Toronto Nationals' win last time out against Montreal Tigers has put them back in contention for a knockout place and they will be desperate to carry that form into this game and see back-to-back wins over their rivals.
  • The arrival of Nepalese prodigy Sandeep Lamichhane has offered another excellent spin option alongside Aussie Chris Green and their bowling attack is looking as dangerous as any in the tournament right now.
  • Skipper Yuvraj Singh is a major doubt to play here after retiring hurt in the last match due to a back problem so that is likely to mean Brendon McCullum will come back into the side for what could be one of his final games after he announced his retirement when the Global T20 comes to an end.

THE PREDICTION

Both of these teams have proved to be somewhat unpredictable so far in the 2019 edition of the Global T20, but form is with the Nationals. They have benefited from some key international players arriving for duty like Moises Henriques and Sandeep Lamichhane, which should bolster their chances. They comfortably outplayed the Tigers last time out and while the potential absence of Yuvraj Singh will be a loss, Brendon McCullum will be fired up for a final swansong and to go out in style to lead the Nationals to victory.
