THE TEAM NEWS

NOTTS OUTLAWS

  • The Outlaws sit with just a solitary point from their opening two matches and their net run rate is not great after their loss to the Rapids so they come into this match looking to get their first win of the campaign and move up the North Group standings.
  • They have named an unchanged 14-man squad for this match which means they have Chris Nash, Sol Budinger and Luke Fletcher on the sidelines hoping for a chance to come into the side and Fletcher is the most likely one to come in if they do make a change.
  • The Outlaws will be buoyed by the fact that they have an outstanding record against the Steelbacks with their only ever defeat coming in the 2016 semi-finals at Edgbaston so they will view this match as one which can enable them to kick-start their campaign.

NORTHAMPTONSHIRE STEELBACKS

  • The Steelbacks come into their second game of the 2019 campaign with a narrow defeat at the hands of Durham so they will be looking to bounce back albeit against a difficult opponent on paper in the Outlaws.
  • They are not helped by the news that talented South African-born batsman Ricardo Vasconcelos has been ruled out for the remainder of the season due to an ankle injury so that further weakens what is already a squad bereft of real quality.
  • Overseas stars Dwaine Pretorius and Faheem Ashraf were somewhat underwhelming in their opening match with both bat and ball so they will be hoping for much bigger contributions from the duo if they are to match the Outlaws.

THE PREDICTION

Neither side has picked up a win so far in the early stages of the T20 Blast but the Outlaws will fancy their chances based on their dominant head-to-head record against the Steelbacks. Notts had a stunning century by skipper Dan Christian to thank for their victory last time out and the Outlaws look to have far too much quality for them this time around once again. Alex Hales has a big score in him any moment, while the likes of Duckett, Gurney, Christian and Patel will be motivated to get their first win of the season under their belts at the third time of asking.
