THE TEAM NEWS

DELHI BULLS

  • Delhi Bulls came crashing back down to earth after their impressive opening win against Deccan Gladiators as they fell 19 runs short of Karnataka Tuskers’ total of 110/5 which will have disappointed skipper Eoin Morgan after winning the toss and fielding first.
  • It was Morgan and Angelo Mathews who were the only Delhi batsmen to reach double figures in that loss and the pressure is mounting on Kusal Perera, Paul Stirling, Muhammad Usman and David Willey to start scoring some runs.
  • Despite possessing some quality bowlers such as Chameera, Zahir Khan and Adil Rashid, it was only really Ravi Rampaul who came out of the last match with any real credit and those players will have to improve as they will likely name an unchanged side.

BANGLA TIGERS

  • Bangla Tigers kick-started their T10 League campaign by getting their opening win on Sunday as they impressively chased down Karnataka Tuskers’ 114/1 with five wickets and seven balls to spare in the victory.
  • Their batsmen really let loose in the five-wicket win as Fletcher smashed 40 from 15 balls, Moores helped himself to 28 from just 9 balls and Rossouw hammered 22 from 10 balls as the 10 sixes and speed of scoring guided them to a comfortable victory.
  • The bowling unit could have done better however and while they have plenty of firepower with the bat, the bowling is below par with their decision to go for several all-rounders leaving them short on quality frontline bowlers.

THE PREDICTION

Bangla Tigers will have to rely on outscoring their opponents throughout this tournament as the bowling attack is one of the weaker units in the T10 League. The Bulls have greater balance but their bowlers have not exactly been in great form so far, so this is one game where the Tigers’ weakness may not be felt so much. The Tigers have shown that even if they lose wickets, they have so much depth to their batting that they can hit big even down to Liam Plunkett coming in at number eight. That could well make the difference in what should be a shootout with plenty of runs.
