BANGLA TIGERS
- The newly-formed Bangla Tigers kick off their Abu Dhabi T10 League campaign against the Gladiators with plenty of optimism as Bangladeshi head coach Aftab Ahmed has assembled a strong team to compete in the tournament.
- Big-hitting Sri Lankan all-rounder Thisara Perera is their captain and icon player and he has a vast array of talent around him including more world class all-rounders in Robbie Frylinck, Colin de Grandhomme, James Faulkner and David Wiese giving them plenty of quality options.
- The team possesses plenty of firepower at the top of the batting also with Colin Ingram, Andre Fletcher and Rilee Rossouw headlining while there is a strong contingent of eight Bangladeshi players in the squad who will likely get opportunities.
DECCAN GLADIATORS
- Deccan Gladiators got off to a losing start on Friday as they were beaten by the Delhi Bulls after posting 102/1 when batting first and the Bulls knocked it off with relative ease with seven wickets and five balls to spare.
- Despite only losing one wicket and a strong unbeaten knock of 57 from 31 balls by skipper Shane Watson, the target of 103 was not enough and they will look to score at a quicker rate on what is a good batting track.
- Zahir Khan was excellent with the ball taking all three wickets in his two overs, but they will need more from the supporting cast and especially the spinners with Fawad Ahmed and Mason Crane unable to make an impact as they need to improve their all-round performance by a notch here.
THE PREDICTION
Deccan Gladiators come into this game off the back of an opening day defeat which they will look to bounce back from but this will not be easy. Bangla Tigers have assembled an impressive squad of players and the fact they have so many quality all-rounders will see them bat incredibly deep and allow them to go big right from the start of the innings. With the Gladiators bowling unit not looking particularly strong, the Tigers have to be favoured to make a winning start to their campaign.
